Am I Eligible?
Low-income*, minority** students who are San Francisco Bay Area residents and will be enrolled full time at an accredited, not-for-profit 4-year institution in Fall 2016 are eligible to apply. This scholarship may only be applied toward undergraduate level studies.

  • Single Parent Scholarship Application and Essay
  • Cover Letter
  • Professional Resume
  • Official High School and/or College Transcript
  • Financial Aid Web-Award Confirmation
  • Letter of Recommendation (Minimum one letter from a teacher, supervisor, or equivalent)

Essay Topic
In 1,000 words or less, explain why you should be selected as a recipient of our George Geng-On Lee – Minorities in Leadership Scholarship.  Draw upon your academic, professional, volunteer and personal experiences to demonstrate how you have overcome the challenges of being a minority. Describe how you exemplify a minority in a leadership role.  In addition, state how your career goals and future aspirations will contribute to your growth as a leader in your community.

Essay Topic
In 1,000 words or less, please explain why you should be selected as a recipient of our Single Parent Scholarship.  Draw upon your academic, professional, volunteer and personal experiences to demonstrate how you have overcome the challenges of being a single parent. Describe how you are a leader in your community. In addition, state how your career goals and future aspirations will contribute to your continued growth as a leader in your community.

* Low-income is defined as having annual household income at or below the 100% LLSIL. Refer to this document to determine if you are eligible.

** Minority is defined as a group differing from the majority population.  This includes but is not limited to ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
